What Remains of Edith Finch: A Hidden Diamond

Quick Review:

It is easy to dismiss this game as yet-another small, indie and unexciting indie effort. Graphics are not exactly state-of-the-art gorgeous or close to realism, and at first look, the game has a dark and mysterious setting that some are averse to playing.

Looking past these points, I found this game to be surprisingly engaging and its storytelling a hidden diamond waiting to be discovered.

Without giving away too much of the game, the game tells the short stories of a cursed family and what happened to each of them. The developers have put in efforts to make sure the storytelling is captivating, coupled with a nice balance of engagement it requires from the gamer.

Even after I’m done with the game, I find myself thinking about the story and the cursed family, and that to me, is a clear indicator of a indie game well-made.
